Our Story
Safe and Sound Sanctuary provides a safe haven for dogs who were destined to be destroyed by individual owners, rescue groups and shelters. Several of the dogs who have entered our sanctuary support system were strays that were released most likely by owners who lost their homes during difficult financial times during the past several years.
The majority of our current dogs are over 12 years old now, a couple are 15 years, mostly all of whom have some moderate to serious medical ailments, all require constant vetting, prescriptions, supplements, herbs, some with specialty vets including cardiologists, neurologists, dermatologists, as well as alternative and eastern physicians. Thankfully they are all thriving! We have always provided these special dogs with the best of everything, regardless of the costs, as we committed ourselves to them for their entire lives.
We believe in species appropriate diets, and constantly research and provide traditional and natural remedies to support strength and conditioning, maintain and improve immunity, and address ailments of the physical and emotional nature of all of the animals in our care. We are very conscious of environmental influences and promote toxic, chemical free space and work towards addressing as many geographic factors that we can by providing good water and air and limiting EMF exposure.
The sanctuary dogs, many now seniors, had purposeful jobs and shared themselves with many, many other people and animals. Some are still therapy dogs to other dogs who need confidence and socializing, some participated in children safety classes and education programs, others bonded and healed new dogs coming in that were traumatized after being abandoned by their owners.
Our animals deserve everything wonderful and joyous as THEY are wonderful and joyous!
