Charlie

Charlie is our 9 1/2 yr old German Shepherd mix a resident. He was originally picked up by one of the town shelters as a feral stray. Luckily, a friend of the sanctuary called us and asked for our help to save Charlie from certain death!.
We transported Charlie from the shelter to our sanctuary whereby he was extremely fearful and submissive. We noticed that Charlie was very friendly with dogs and we used some therapy dogs to help build his confidence. Once he started to feel a bit more comfortable, we were able to start introducing ourselves to him in small steps.
Charlie is a shy boy but has learned to trust more easily now. Charlie still has some circumstances and moments when he reverts into his submissive state when feeling unsure, but he has learned a lot! We are patient and loving with Charlie and are teaching him that it is safe to engage in life, with our guiding hands. He loves all dogs and cant wait to play in the yard especially when there is a new playmate:)
Charlie is infamous for running laps around the play yards at the highest speeds possible! Steady voice tones, belly rubs, time with Zena and having playgroups keep Charlie "Safe and Sound.".
