Maximus
Maximus is our 14 yr old Asian Shepherd permanent resident who is by far our largest dog, weighing almost 150 lbs and standing close to shoulder height with some of us!
He has been called a "polar bear" by many who have met him! Maximus came to us as an owner surrender.
Maximus' favorite things are playing with small dogs, spending hours upon hours outside and making snow angels in the winter! He has been receiving treatment for degenerative spine disease, rear arthritis and a heart condition, which all require him to receive daily medications, monthly injections and regular bloodwork, x-rays and and vet care.
Maximus had a long term visiting friend named Thurman, who sadly passed last year. Thurman was a beautiful, strong, and independent spirited beagle and Max took to him from their first meeting many, many years ago.
He had many good times with his pal Thurman over the years. We all miss Thurman! Ever since knowing Thurman, Max has a special love and patience for all beagles:)
Short walks, meeting people and small kids, belly massages and burying himself in snow mounds keep Maximus "Safe and Sound."
